Services

The sweeping of a chimney is solely for the purpose of removing combustible materials i.e soot and the clearing of any  blockages. If the lining is in poor condition any
amount of sweeping wil not prevent the falling of lining materials. These materials may continue to fall after the flue has been swept due to the disturbing action of sweeping.

This is not a  certificate or guarantee or warranty that any fireplace, heating appliance, boiler flue or chimney stack is safe. Unless your Sweep is qualified to test the inaccessible and concealed areas of the flue your Sweep cannot warrant that there are no potential defects on the flue or your chimney arising  from fair wear and tear,
Wilful damage accident negligence
by you or any third  party ,use otherwise as recommended by the manufacturer of the appliance, failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions, or any alterations or repair carried out by you or any third party.

CHIMNEYS USING COAL, SMOKELESS FUEL, WOOD, OIL & GAS NEED REGULAR CHIMNEY CLEANING & INSPECTION

Whatever type of ppliance you have Open Fire, Room heater, Stove, Boiler, Cooker, Gas Fire it is essential that you do not allow soot, fly ash, vermin nests or other
matter to build up, where it can prevent or hinder smoke and the products of combustion from the appliance, pasing safely out of the chimney, The flue pipe from the
appliance to the chimney and any flue waye within the appliance must also be kept clear. 

AIR SUPPLY

1. DO NOT make the room airtight because the heating appliance can start to use up most of the air. This can be dangerous to any people in the room. If you have
draught profing or double glazing seek advice on wether you need an extra vent or air bricks into the room.

Neverblock existing vents or airbricks, this applies to Allappliances
 

SOLID FUEL

2. Always have your chimney and any flue pipe swept at least once a year- even if you burn smokeless fuel. More frquent sweeping is advisable  to prevent chimney 
fires,  particularly if you burn  wood.
3. Burn only suitable fuels and operate  the appliance in accordance with the manufacturers instructions at all times.
4 . Ensure all flue ways in the appliance are kep clear : Brush them out every month
5. Some room heaters have a throat plate at the top of the firebox. It is essential that this is removed and cleaned at least once a month. If the plate is not easily removed
it may need gentle tapping.

SMOKE TESTING OF CHIMNEYS 

6. For Solid Fuel. to ensure the integrity and safety of your flue, it is recommended a Approved Chimney Sweep, should carry out a test in accordance with current
Building Regulations and appropriate European and British Standards, and who will issue an appropriate Smoke Test Certificate; or an Approved Engineer, for
Gas, a CORGI registered operative should carry out a test to current British Standards and Building Regulations. For 0il contact your        OFTEC registered operative.For

FUMES

7. The fumes given off by ALL FUELS are potentially lethal. If you see smoke spilling out of the fireplace or appliance, see, smell or taste fumes in a room or carbon
monoxide detector alarm has been activated, you should:-

. Open all windows and doors to the outside air in the room where the appliance is installed

.vacate the room of all occupants, including pets

.let the fire go out; attempting to put the fire out can be DANGEROUS

.DO NOT operate any electrical appliances or switches - extinguish all naked fames

.DO NOT re-light the fire or appliance until the problem has been investigated and rectified by a competent person 

CERTIFICATION

After a chimney has been swept, the Chimney Sweep will issue a Certificate to the householder or property owner stating that a
chimney has been swept in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Institute of Chimney Sweeps. A date for subsequent re-sweeping should be
recommended. Should any defects be obvious , a statement to that effect shall be made on the Certificate.
